If you’re struggling to come up with content ideas, start by thinking about who you’re trying to reach. Typically, this is your ideal client.
Remember that the purpose of content marketing is to deliver value.
What questions do they have? What topics come up frequently in session? Create content about that. Don’t post any personally identifiable information, of course.
I get a lot of content ideas from marketing consulting calls I do.
Who does your target audience follow on social media? Follow them, too, for inspiration. Just don’t copy them. And if you do repurpose their content, give them credit.
Here are some other suggestions for getting content ideas.
Reddit: The r/askatherapist subreddit has over 20,000 members. It’s a gold mine for content ideas. There are other subreddits to explore depending on your niche.
People Also Ask: If you enter a search into Google, you’ll notice a dropdown of related searches that people also ask Google. Test different wording and variations to see what comes up.
Answer the Public: Enter a keyword (e.g. college mental health) and this free tool tells you what people are also searching on Google related to that keyword. Every related search could be a blog post topic or social media post.
Inspiration is everywhere if you know where to look.
Don’t overthink it.
