How do clients hear about you?

Do you know how your clients hear about you?

I asked my audience on Twitter and 321 therapists responded.

Over 50% of people said word of mouth or referral. Not surprising.

But more than 14% of people said they don’t know.

If you don’t know, ask. Make it part of your standard intake form or consultation call script.

Track responses in a spreadsheet and look at it every month.

If the directory you’re paying for hasn’t generated a referral in three months, then it’s probably time to cancel it.

Getting a lot of referrals from Instagram? Great. Double down on that as a marketing channel.

If you don’t ask, then you don’t know. And if you don’t know, then you don’t know what marketing efforts are working—and not working.
