Grow your therapy practice with out-of-network billing

If you don’t take insurance, then you can still charge your full cash rate while your clients get reimbursed using their out-of-network benefits.

This can help you retain clients you already have, as well as attract clients who may not have otherwise been able to afford your cash rate.

You provide your client something called a “superbill” they submit to their insurance company. But the process can be time consuming, especially if they have to call to verify their benefits.

There are tech companies trying to solve this problem.

One of them is Mentaya. It’s free to join for therapists and they charge a 2.9% transaction fee on claims. The client pays 5% per claim (e.g. $200 session = $10 per claim).

Thrizer has a similar business model. They charge therapists a 3% transaction fee and clients pay 5% per claim.

Advekit is another option. They charge $30/month or $270/year to join. They also charge therapists a transaction fee, although the price isn’t listed on their website.

I’ve also heard good things about Reimbursify. Their Basic plan is free for therapists and clients pay $3.99 per claim (the first claim is free), or they have paid plans for therapists that include unlimited free claims for clients.
