Don’t just charge for your time

There's a story about a woman who approached Picasso and asked him to scribble something on a napkin.

Picasso did it and said, “That will be $10,000.”

“But you did that in 30 seconds,” the woman replied.

“No,” Picasso said. “It has taken me 40 years to do that.”

When setting your rates, especially for speaking or consulting, don’t just charge for your time.

Charge for the time it took to get where you are today.
