Can therapists have more than one niche?

I’m bullish on therapists having a niche.

If you try to be for everyone, then you end up not really being for anyone, which makes marketing difficult.

When you have a specific ideal client in mind, however, marketing is much easier. You can speak directly to them and their pain points in your content.

What if you have more than one niche? I get asked this question by therapists all the time.

My answer is always the same: it depends.

Having more than one niche is fine as long as it’s clear in your marketing. I recommend separating them into different paragraphs or sections on your website.

If you try to speak to both audiences at the same time, then it can be confusing.

Someone who does a great job of this is Kenya Crawford, LMHC.

She offers therapy services to Black folks and queer folks. She also offers corporate consulting to organizations.

Two different audiences. But it works because her website is so well organized.
