If you offer consultation calls with prospective clients, then you likely ask what brings them to therapy, what insurance they have, and whether they’re looking for in-person or virtual sessions.

But these questions only tap into their logical brain. Selecting a therapist is an emotional decision. 

To tap into their emotional brain, ask them, “What would an ideal outcome look like for you?” This is also a powerful question for consulting discovery calls. 

Their answer will tell you a lot. 

Maybe they want to be more confident at work, feel more comfortable in their body, or show up better in their marriage.

Once you understand their internal motivation, you can speak to whether you’re the right fit for them or not.
