Why you should be blogging
A therapist asked me recently whether or not they should have a blog as part of their website. Is it really worth it?
My answer: Absolutely.
A blog is a marketing channel (just like social media) that helps support business growth. It’s one of the best things you can do to communicate with potential clients about how you think.
You may remember my interview with Kerry Lusignan, Founder and Director of Northampton Couples Therapy Center in Northampton, MA. When COVID hit, they doubled down on content marketing and increased their blog publishing frequency from twice per month to weekly.
The result? They went from seeing 50 couples per week to over 100 and have hired three new therapists to keep up with the demand.
Here are a few reasons you should be blogging as a therapist.
It helps drive traffic to your website
It converts that traffic into leads
It establishes authority
It drives long-term results
As a bonus, blogging enables you to develop shareable resources. Do you find yourself answering the same question(s) over and over? Write a blog post and save time by sending a link instead.
You’re probably thinking to yourself, “Michael, this all sounds great but I don’t have time to blog” or, “I’d love to blog but I’m not a good writer.”
Outsource, outsource, outsource.
You can find good freelance writers on UpWork and Fiverr. If that feels overwhelming, I would be happy to make a referral for you to someone in my network.
