Own your website
Your website is your real estate on the internet.
Luckily, websites are more affordable than homes.
I’ve seen companies offer subscription-based website services for therapists. It sounds good in theory. The promise to build your website, host it, and optimize it for SEO, all for a low monthly price.
But here’s why I would never use one of those services.
I wouldn’t want someone else to own my website. What happens if you ever want to cancel your subscription? What if their servers go down? Or if they go out of business?
You don’t want to start over. It takes time for your website to rank on Google.
Instead, I’d rather register a domain through Namecheap for $15/year and build a simple website on Squarespace for $25/month.
Own your website. Don’t rent it.
