How to start a newsletter

The best way to start a newsletter is to just start.

First, you’ll need to decide who you’re writing for. Who is your target audience? Potential clients? Other therapists?

You’ll need to decide your unique consistent value. How is your newsletter going to be different? How frequently are you going to send it? What real use value is it going to provide to the reader?

You’ll need to pick an email service provider (ESP). I use ConvertKit but Mailchimp is a great, free tool. Substack is another option if you’re interested in writing a paid newsletter. Don’t spend too much time worrying about the tech. You can always switch later.

Once your newsletter is set up, send the link to your family and friends to sign up. Send it to me, too. Word of mouth is key in the beginning.

The rest is about showing up. This is the 58th consecutive weekly issue of Therapy Marketer and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon.
