How to beat imposter syndrome
Every therapist feels imposter syndrome at some point in their career.
Some are better at hiding it than others.
How do you beat imposter syndrome?
First, recognize your feelings are valid. Being a therapist isn’t easy, especially during a pandemic.
Recognize that just because you haven’t done something before doesn’t mean you can’t do it. It just means you haven’t done it before. Lean into your discomfort. That’s where growth happens.
Seek out supervision or consultation. Don’t underestimate the power of a mentor.
Finally, remember there are 850,000 mental health professionals and 330 million people in the United States.
You’re in the top 1% in the country for what you do.
