Don't stop at the dip

Typically when people start something new, they see initial positive results.

For example, when I launched this newsletter, hundreds of therapists signed up. It felt great.

Then after a while, results start to slow down.

My subscriber total flatlined. It didn’t feel so great. Seth Godin calls this “the dip.”

The dip is when most people quit. If you keep going, then results start to go back up again.

That’s not to say you should never quit something that’s not working. Susan David talks about knowing when to grit and when to quit.

But there’s something to be said about consistent effort over time, whether it’s investing in SEO, building a newsletter, or growing an audience on social media.

Think in months and years, not days and weeks.
